The California Latino Capitol Association Foundation (CLCAF) Conexiones Program is designed to promote and support a culture of learning and mentoring within the Capitol community. Through this program, we will connect members with 5 or less years of professional experience (mentees), with members that have 5+ years of professional experience (mentors). Mentors and mentees will be matched with each other based on career interests, professional and/or personal goals.

Mentees will have the opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal skills while gaining new tools to advance their goals. Mentors will have the opportunity to gain new perspectives and ideas while sharing key insights, tools, and experiences. Participants must commit to engaging with their partner at least once a month through in-person meetings, email, phone and/or other methods, as needed. We encourage mentors and mentees to continue communicating past the official end of the mentorship program.

Mentees will:

  • Have less than 5 years of professional experience.

  • Identify at least three short and/or long-term goals.

  • Be open to feedback and new perspectives and ideas.

  • Engage once a month with their mentor through in-person
meetings, email, phone, and/or other methods as needed.

  • Attend one CLCAF event with their mentor (accommodations
can be made if mentorship pairing is remote).

Mentors will:

  • Be community leaders with at least 5 years of professional experience.

  • Provide ongoing support, feedback, and advice to promote mentee’s professional growth and achievement.

  • Be an active listener and enthusiastic about sharing expertise and past experiences with mentee.

  • Engage once a month with your mentee through in-person meetings, email, phone, and/or other methods as needed.

  • Attend one CLCAF event with their mentee (accommodations can be made if mentorship pairing is remote).
